There is a very good reason why a marketer would say that there are only two industries in this world that guarantees you a clean profit if you do it well.
One, the baby's industry. Anything related to babys, toddlers, education and toys, you are sure to sell some to make a nice income. Two, the women's industry. Really....the thing with women is this – we can resist the biggest buffet of our lives and yet, we can't resist something cute, will make us look pretty or cute or is in limited edition. I guess that it why I am in the ladies accessories industry.
For one, I love them. Two, I love to sell them. Three, all my customers love them! The look of delight that passes on their faces is so exhilarating to see that it rivals the 'ka-ching' sound of my cash register. Well, the virtual one, anyway, because I don't have a real store. I sell all my ladies accessories through my friends, blog and also a personal website.
Other things, apart from ladies accessories is the makeup and cosmetics industry. Tell a woman that she can have crystal clear skin within three weeks of using this magical lotion, and you have her like putty in your hands. The sale is doubly fast when you have a good testimonial – better if there is a 'before' and 'after' proof. But there is just one little skirmish thing about being in the cosmetics and skincare industry, reliability. Since we are not rich enough to keep piles of stock from the said companies (think L'oreal, Nivea, Revlon, etc), we have to resort to selling products that are slightly cheaper...which sometimes translates into 'shady' or 'questionable quality'.
When dealing with someone's looks, it is touchy. I know I would give it my best shot at suing the manufacturer if someone sold me products of questionable quality.
Therefore, I am in the ladies accessories industry. Which is fun, exciting and so much more fast-paced. I love finding new designs every now and then, as opposed to other industries because it is, then, that I get to show it off to my friends.
Suffice to say, after starting my business selling ladies accessories, I have made so many more new friends in the cyber world. It is like I have a home where I live and connect with my family, and then my real friends in the real world...and then my cyber friends/supporters/customers.
I'm just glad I did this. :-)
